Visakhapatnam: Key infrastructure and development projects were inaugurated and foundation stones were laid for new initiatives at Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) here on Monday.
Chairperson of Visakhapatnam Port Authority M Angamuthu inaugurated the projects and laid the foundation stone for development initiatives. Some of these included the development of a public promenade, a port operation system, 38 TKM electrification of railway tracks, a display corridor in the administrative office building, 170-kW rooftop solar at STP, upgradation of the existing MCHV railway track, repairs to the pockets along the SL canal jetty, improvement of railway tracks with rectification of sharp curves and construction of a customs boundary wall. Foundation stones were laid for security and infrastructure enhancement projects such as installation of under vehicle scanning systems at all gates, radiological detection equipment at cargo gates, regrading of the BT Road surface from convent junction arch to H-7 junction and regrading of roads inside OHC.
These projects reflect VPA's continued commitment towards modernisation, operational efficiency, green energy initiatives, safety and improved infrastructure development within the port premises.
Secretary of VPA M Sankar Babu, heads of departments, senior officials and employees participated in the programmes.
