Visakhapatnam: Yogasanas should not be confined merely to maintaining holistic health but also promoted and developed as a sport, suggested Visakhapatnam south constituency MLA CH Vamsi Krishna Srinivas Yadav.
Taking part as chief guest in the valedictory ceremony of the '51st Andhra Pradesh State-level Yogasana Sports Championship-2026', he underlined that practising yogasanas helps improve physical fitness, mental peace, concentration and discipline.
At the ceremony organised at Indira Priyadarshini stadium in the city, the MLA presented medals, certificates of appreciation and trophies to the winners and participants. Around 600 sportspersons from 25 districts of Andhra Pradesh participated in the two-day championship. Competitions were conducted in 11 groups in different categories for those aged from 8 to 45 years.
Visakhapatnam district won the overall championship, securing the title for the sixth consecutive time. Vamsi Krishna Srinivas Yadav presented the Overall Championship Trophy and distributed prizes and certificates of appreciation to the winners. Congratulating the participants, the MLA said that the talented sportspersons would excel at national and international competitions and bring greater recognition to Andhra Pradesh and the country.
He assured that he would always extend his support and cooperation for the promotion of yogasanas and for organising such sporting events in future.
