Principals and representatives from prominent schools in Ludhiana and other districts attended the annual edition of the Principals' Meet organised by The Tribune Group of Newspapers in association with Chitkara University on Wednesday.

The theme for this year was "Education in the Age of AI". More than 50 school principals and representatives participated in the session.

The participants showed keen interest in discussions centred on artificial intelligence and deliberated on its scope within the education system. Several principals also highlighted AI-driven technologies currently being implemented in their respective schools.

The keynote address was delivered by Aadi Garg, a motivational speaker and career counsellor associated with the education sector for several years. Garg, who has been guiding students through their academic journeys, familiarised the gathering with various AI tools and applications that can enhance both academic and administrative efficiency.

The session commenced with an introduction followed by a ceremonial lighting of the lamp.

During his address, Garg emphasised that AI has already become an integral part of the education system and it is up to schools to effectively integrate the technology. He noted that AI is not limited to platforms such as ChatGPT, but also plays a significant role in data analysis, information processing and decision-making, depending on how it is utilised. He urged principals to explore AI-based tools, citing examples of schools that have witnessed increased enrolments after adopting such technologies.

The interactive session witnessed principals asking probing questions, which were addressed by the speaker, making the discussion engaging and insightful. Participants also shared their experiences and perspectives on the growing influence of AI across sectors, including healthcare, education, legal and business services, while underscoring India’s leading position in the digital transformation.

Mahinder Singh, Principal of Nankana Sahib School, Samrala, shared that his school has digitised report cards using AI, enabling parents to access and interact with the school seamlessly through technology. Paramvir Singh from Malwa Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana, said the school has upgraded its infrastructure by installing smart panels and ensuring proper training for teachers and students. He added that parents are also guided during parent-teacher meetings on how the school is adopting technology and how they can respond to queries raised by the school.

The Principals’ Meet concluded as a highly interactive and informative session, offering valuable insights into the positive and challenging aspects of AI in education.
