Dwayne Johnson is currently filming Jumanji 3. In a heartwarming post, he announced the shoot wrap-up for co-star Danny DeVito. The upcoming movie is the third installment in the reboot franchise.
It brings back its core cast, including Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, and Nick Jonas in their iconic jungle avatars, complete with their signature mix of camo gear, attitude and hilarious expressions. Dwayne Johnson announced in November 2025 that filming for Jumanji 3, described as the final film in the franchise, had officially begun in Los Angeles. And bringing back legendary actor-comedian Danny DeVito as Eddie Gilpin has already become one of its high points.
Dwayne Johnson announces Danny DeVito's shoot wrap up
On February 17, Johnson took to his social media handles and posted some photos with DeVito, along with co-star Kevin Hart. The wrestler-turned-actor wrote, "That's an official Jumanji wrap on the one and the only, Danny DeVito. To work with you, and learn from you has been an honor ~ and to call you my friend, will always be a privilege. Thank you, brother for your anchoring heart and JOY throughout our Jumanji franchise. Let's tell more stories together. ps, please keep smilin' and please keep exfoliating the top of your head."
Jumanji 3 cast
Jake Kasdan, who also directed Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Jumanji: The Next Level, is returning to helm Jumanji 3. Columbia Pictures also announced a star-packed ensemble joining the third instalment. While Nick Jonas will reprise his role as Seaplane McDonough, Rhys Darby also returns as Nigel Billingsley. Marin Hinkle will reprise Spencer's mother, along with Lamorne Morris, Bebe Neuwirth, and others who will also reunite with the team.
Danny DeVito plays Eddie, Spencer's sharp-witted grandfather whose avatar was once played by Johnson in Jumanji: The Next Level.
First look and what new to expect
The first look of the film was released with the announcement of it going on floors in November last year. It hinted that the plot takes a new direction, unlike the previous films, where characters were trapped inside the game, the video game avatars may come into the real world. It is expected to pay homage to the original 1995 Jumanji starring Robin Williams, such as a reference to the original game's dice in Dr. Bravestone's necklace.
Jumanji 3 has been announced as a major Christmas-season theatrical release, premiering on December 11, 2026.
