Nine people were killed, and 25 others were injured in a mass shooting incident in Tumber Ridge, British Columbia. Six of the deaths occurred at the Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in northeastern British Columbia on Tuesday, in one of the worst incidents of its kind in Canadian history.

The suspected shooter is among the 9 dead. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police identified the suspect as an 18-year-old female, Jesse Van Rootselaar, who is the same person initially named by Canadian news outlets as Jesse Strang.

Who Is Jesse Strang, And What Do The Alleged Reddit Posts Say?

Two Canadian news organizations, Western Standard and Juno News, were among the first to report the name, stating they obtained it from a close family member. The RCMP later confirmed that Jesse Strang goes by the name Jesse Van Rootselaar. Western Standard and Juno News further reported that Strang was transgender. A public YouTube account believed to belong to Jesse reportedly displays the transgender flag and uses the pronouns "she/her," according to Juno News.

Old Reddit posts allegedly linked to an account under the username "jesseboy347" have surfaced on social media, with the name 'Zylii' also linked to Strang. Authorities have not confirmed that the account belongs to the suspect.

In a post dated February 26, 2023, the user wrote about starting a male-to-female transition and expressed fear of needles, asking about bloodwork and hormone options. Other posts referenced mental health diagnoses including ADHD, MDD, ASD and OCD, and mentioned a stay in a psychiatric ward.

Additional posts discussed drug use, including references to shrooms, N, N-DMT and 5-MeO-DMT, as well as medications such as Sertraline and Risperidone. One post was titled "GunTubers, Transphobia. And what to think of it?" though its content was deleted. Another post referenced comparing body image to fictional anime characters.
