The fast for Vijaya Ekadashi will be observed on 13 February, 2026. This fast is observed every year on the Ekadashi tithi of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Phalgun.

The Ekadashi tithi will begin on 12 February 2026 at 12:22 pm and will end on 13 February 2026 at 2:25 pm. According to the Udaya tithi, the fast will be kept on 13 February. The fast will be broken on 14 February 2026 between 7 am and 9 am.

Why Is Vijaya Ekadashi Important?

As the name suggests, Vijaya Ekadashi means the Ekadashi that brings victory. It is believed that worshipping Lord Vishnu and observing a fast on this day brings success in every area of life. If a person is troubled by enemies or faces repeated obstacles in life, this fast is considered especially beneficial.

What To Do For Victory Over Enemies?

On the day of Vijaya Ekadashi, wake up in the morning, take a bath and take a vow to observe the fast. If your health allows, keep the fast on water alone. If not, you may observe it with fruits.

Chant the mantras of Lord Vishnu throughout the day. The simplest and most effective mantra is "Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya". Chant this mantra with devotion and pray to Lord Vishnu for victory over enemies. The next day, after bathing and meditating, offer food to the Lord at the time of breaking the fast and then end the fast.

Mythological Story

According to religious texts, when Lord Ram reached the seashore to march towards Lanka, Sage Bagdalabh advised him to observe the fast of Vijaya Ekadashi. It is said that Lord Ram kept this fast, and through its influence he succeeded in crossing the sea and defeating Ravana.

Simple Method Of Worship For Vijaya Ekadashi

While bathing in the morning, mix a little Ganga water into the water and chant "Har Har Gange". Wear yellow clothes, or if that is not possible, wear clean white clothes. Place an idol or picture of Lord Vishnu at home on a small platform covered with a yellow cloth. Offer yellow flowers, apply tilak, offer akshat and light a ghee lamp. After this, take a vow to observe the fast and pray for the fulfilment of your wishes. Using a Tulsi rosary, chant the mantra "Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya" 108 times. Continue chanting the mantra at intervals throughout the day. The next day, during the prescribed time for breaking the fast, offer food to the Lord and then end the fast.

Vijaya Ekadashi Parana

Parana means breaking the fast. Ekadashi Parana is done after sunrise on next day of Ekadashi fast. "It is necessary to do Parana within Dwadashi Tithi unless Dwadashi is over before sunrise. Not doing Parana within Dwadashi is similar to an offence," states Drik Panchang. It adds, "Parana should not be done during Hari Vasara. One should wait for Hari Vasara to get over before breaking the fast. Hari Vasara is first one fourth duration of Dwadashi Tithi. The most preferred time to break the fast is Pratahkal. One should avoid breaking the fast during Madhyahna. If due to some reasons one is not able to break the fast during Pratahkal then one should do it after Madhyahna."

On 14th Feb, Parana Time - 07:03 AM to 09:21 AM
