Many people across the United States reported power outages linked to Xcel Energy on Sunday. Denver, Aurora and several parts of Colorado were the most affected.

Reports of outages spread on social media, where frustrated customers described long waits, sudden blackouts, and trouble accessing the company's website.

Xcel Energy has not released an official statement yet regarding what caused the outage or when will it be restored.

Many social media users voiced anger and confusion as their homes lost power without warning.

One user wrote, "Gotta love Verizon when XcelEnergyCO shuts off the power with no heads up and Xfinity takes forever to turn back on. Been on this screen for 20 minutes."

Another expressed frustration over the company's systems not working. "Of course XcelEnergyCO would have an outage and their website out at the same time. 10/10," the user stated.

One user asked, "XcelEnergyCO what the h**l is happening with the power outage??"

Another customer said this was not the first recent disruption. "Xcel has officially shut off my power more times in the last two months than in the last six years. Enough of the bull***t gentlemen, you need to fix your problems before I pay you another dime."

One more X user stated, "What the heck is happening with XcelEnergyCO right now? Power is out all over in SE suburbs. No update updates on website and no one is answering customer service phone number."

Another said, "I assume the company is aware of the current website/phone number/app outage in Denver, CO and surrounding areas? Why is everything down all at once? I can't even report the outage properly..."

When Will Power Be Restored?

The total number of people affected by the power outage is still unknown. Many customers said that Xcel Energy's outage map is not working, making it harder to track the situation.

Xcel Energy said that at least 145,000 customers lost power, but it is not clear how many have had their electricity restored so far.

Other agencies also reported massive outages. CORE Power said that over 40,000 customers were without electricity as of 3.30 pm.

The outage even affected Denver International Airport, where the trains that move passengers between concourses stopped running. The airport said that crews are working to fix the problem and restore service.
