The Struggles of Cancer Patients is Aptly Showcased in 'Konttho' !!!
Director duo Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy's next film ' Konttho ' is already making headlines for not only the exciting star cast but also for the subject it revolves around. The trailer of the film has been released and has already garnered millions of view and the number is increasing with each passing hour. The film, inspired by a true story, revolves around the life of a successful radio jockey Arjun Mallik, whose life suddenly takes a sharp turn when he gets diagnosed with laryngeal cancer. The whole world around him comes crashing down since his voice box needs to be removed. His wife, Pritha, played by Paoli Dam is herself a voice artist.
The film is inspired by the life of the late Bibhuti Chakraborty, a survivor of laryngeal cancer. He had his voice box removed. However, he did not surrender to his fate; he developed an alternative way of speaking by using his food pipe instead of vocal chords. The director duo had met this man few years ago during the making of a non fiction program for a TV channel. Since then they were very inspired by him and wanted to tell this story in a film. Although Konttho is not a Biopic rather it is a fictionalized story inspired from the real incident. Shiboprosad Mukherjee himself is playing the main lead as the RJ. Jaya Ahsan will be seen as the speech therapist in the film.
Although the film is talking about a serious issue but the director duo has not tried to make it look like a serious film for limited audience. They have presented it in their own style of story telling, simple and heart touching which will appeal to everyone in the audience. It focuses on how a man's fight doesn't end after beating cancer but only begins as he now learns a new way speaking; esophageal speech, also known as esophageal voice. Veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor is very impressed with the trailer and wrote in twitter, "Shiboprosad Mukherjee's new movie trailer. Very impressive." The windows productions film is all set to release on the 10th of May.
