The Tripura Legislative Assembly is set to convene its next session on August 27, with sittings scheduled for August 27, 28 and 31. The schedule and proposed business of the House were discussed at a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) held at the Assembly Conference Hall on Friday.
Assembly Speaker Rampada Jamatia chaired the BAC meeting. Deputy Speaker Ramprasad Paul, Ministers Ratan Lal Nath and Sushanta Chowdhury, Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chaudhary, Minister Animesh Debbarma and other members of the committee were present.
The committee discussed the agenda, duration and allocation of time for the forthcoming session. Members also emphasised the need to ensure smooth, orderly and productive proceedings, while providing legislators adequate opportunity to raise matters concerning the state and public interest.
The upcoming session is expected to witness discussions on issues linked to development, public welfare and other matters of importance to the state. The BAC members expressed hope that constructive participation from both the treasury and opposition benches would contribute to meaningful deliberations in the Assembly.
The session will thus provide an important platform for legislators to deliberate on issues affecting the people of Tripura and review matters related to the state's development and governance.
