Mumbai, April 4: Google has announced a significant update to its video creation platform, Google Vids, allowing users to create AI-generated videos for free using the Veo 3.1 model.

This new feature is available to anyone with a personal Google account, enabling them to produce videos up to eight seconds long using text prompts or image inputs. However, users with free accounts are limited to creating just 10 videos each month.

This update opens up new opportunities for users who do not wish to pay for a subscription while still allowing them to explore the capabilities of AI video creation.

In a recent blog post, Google detailed the new features accompanying this update. One of the highlights is the introduction of custom soundtracks. Users can now add AI-generated soundtracks to their clips or entire videos using the Lyria 3 and Lyria 3 Pro models. This feature allows for tracks ranging from 30 seconds to three minutes long, although it is currently available only to Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers.

Additionally, Google is integrating AI avatars into the platform. Paid users can create customizable AI avatars that maintain consistent facial features and voice across multiple clips and projects. These avatars can interact with uploaded content and can be adjusted in appearance, including clothing and background settings.

Furthermore, Google Vids is making it easier to create and share video projects. A new screen recorder Chrome extension allows users to record their screens or themselves from anywhere on the web, simplifying the video creation process to just one click. Users can now publish their completed videos directly to YouTube, eliminating previous steps such as rendering and downloading. All exports will remain private by default, allowing users to preview their videos before sharing them publicly.

This update marks a significant step for Google in making AI video creation accessible to a broader audience.
