Bhatkal: Police in Bhatkal have seized 84 grams of ganja and a car after busting an attempt to store and sell the contraband from a luxury vehicle, officials said.
The accused has been identified as Mohideen Sheikh (24), a resident of Habale Firdous Nagar.
According to police, the accused had allegedly stored around 84 grams of ganja, valued at approximately Rs 5,000, without any licence and was preparing to sell it in small plastic sachets. He was reportedly caught at Mountain Ground in Magdam Colony on Tuesday morning.
Acting on a tip-off, the city police station Sub-Inspector and team conducted a raid and seized the ganja along with the car used for transportation. The vehicle is estimated to be worth around Rs 5 lakh.
A case has been registered at the Bhatkal Town Police Station based on a complaint filed by PSI Naveen Naik, and further investigation is underway.
