Bengaluru : A public prosecutor attached to a city court here was caught on Monday while allegedly accepting a Rs 5,000 bribe from a complainant, officials said.
The accused, identified as Savitha Naveen Patil (55), is posted as a public prosecutor at the City Civil and Sessions Court (CCH-54) in Bengaluru, they said.
According to Lokayukta officials, Patil had allegedly demanded Rs 5,000 from a Banashankari resident for submitting objections in connection with a case registered at the Chennammanakere Achukattu police station.
Following a complaint by the resident, Lokayukta officials laid a trap and caught Patil while she was allegedly accepting the bribe from the complainant, a senior official said.
A case was registered against her under Section 7(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, and the accused official was taken into custody, he said.
Further investigation is underway.
