Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee staged a protest at Rajaji Park in Hampankatta on Saturday (August 1), condemning Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna over his remarks against Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.
The protesters raised slogans against Yashpal Suvarna and demanded that he be suspended from his position as an MLA.
During the protest, Congress workers also burnt an effigy of the MLA on the road to express their anger.
Dakshina Kannada District Congress President Harish Kumar, former minister Ramanath Rai, former MLA J R Lobo, District Mahila Congress President Appi, and party leaders Inayat Ali, M G Hegde, Mithun Rai, Padmaraj R Poojary, Mamata Gatti, Sadashiva Ullal, Shalet Pinto, M S Mohammed, and M Shashidhara Hegde participated in the protest.
Presidents of various Block Congress committees and district office-bearers were also present.
