A resident of Davanagere, Srinivas holds a degree in Information Technology and was involved in agriculture, business and social service before entering active politics. He is the son of former Davanagere Urban Development Authority chairman T Das Kariyappa and comes from a political background.

Srinivas has been associated with the BJP for over 20 years and has held various organisational roles. He is currently serving as the state vice-president of the ST Morcha for the past three years. Earlier, he worked as the vice-president of the BJP's Davanagere district unit for five years.

Apart from politics, he has been active in cultural and social organisations. He has served as president of the Devanagari Sports and Cultural Association and the Davanagere Weightlifting Association for about a decade, promoting sports activities. He has also held positions in religious and cooperative institutions, including as vice-president of a Ganapati committee and president of a temple trust. He is also associated with a cooperative society in Davanagere.

Party sources said he maintains close contact with different sections of society and has good relations with senior BJP leaders in the district. His name was finalised after discussions within the party leadership.
