Kollur: Even 11 days after the beginning of the New Year, the number of devotees visiting the Sri Mookambika Temple in Kollur continues to rise steadily.
Over the past three days, more than 20,000 devotees have been arriving at the temple daily.
Temple staff have been working tirelessly to ensure smooth and hassle-free darshan for devotees. However, heavy crowding was witnessed as devotees from Karnataka and various other states, including Ayyappa devotees observing vratas and school children, thronged the temple.
Accommodation fully occupied
Both temple-run and private lodging facilities in and around Kollur have been fully occupied due to the surge in devotees. As a result, many pilgrims were forced to seek shelter in the premises of the Swarnamukhi Sabhabhavana and in the outer areas of the temple. Several devotees also stayed overnight in nearby places such as Hemmadi, Kundapura and Byndoor before proceeding to the temple for darshan.
