Good rainfall was also reported from Madanthyaru, Guruvayanakere, Puttur, Uppinangady, Karaya, Kalleri, Dharmasthala, Venur, Nelyadi, Kokkada, Kadaba, Sullia, Subrahmanya, Bellare, Panja, Kalmakaru, Moodbidri, Mulki, Vitla, Kanyana, Peruvai, Panambur, Ullal and Bajpe.

The Phalguni River overflowed, inundating low-lying areas at Athrabailu and Rayikatte in Kuloor.

NDRF and SDRF teams on standby

As a precautionary measure, the 30-member NDRF team stationed in Puttur has been deployed to Bantwal. Another 25-member NDRF team is on standby in Mangaluru, while a 10-member team has been positioned at Subrahmanya.

Tree falls on house in Mangaluru

A large tree was uprooted and fell on the house of a businessman near Bhat Nursing Home in Mannagudda on Saturday night, causing damage to the building.

A scooter rider narrowly escaped after passing the spot just seconds before the tree collapsed, avoiding what could have been a major accident.

Rough sea at Sasihithlu

Residents of Sasihithlu expressed concern as strong waves continued to batter the coast near Lachil Sri Rama Bhajana Mandira. Sea waves were reported crashing against the protective rocks along the shoreline, with locals saying the wave activity intensifies during the night.

Red alert continues

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert for the coastal region until 8.30 am on August 3, warning of the possibility of extremely heavy rainfall exceeding 204.5 mm.

Udupi records heavy morning rain

Udupi/Karkala: Udupi district received widespread rainfall accompanied by gusty winds on Sunday morning. The weather later turned partly sunny with cloudy conditions.

Hebri taluk recorded the highest rainfall in the district at 145.4 mm. An Orange Alert has been issued for Udupi district on August 3.

A tree fell on a road at Hayagreeva Nagar in the city's Sagri Ward, causing disruption.

While most parts of the district received good rainfall in the morning, a few rural areas recorded fresh showers in the evening.

The Swarna River overflowed at Manai in Hiriyadka, submerging the road connecting to Manai Mutt. Floodwaters also entered agricultural fields along the river, damaging paddy crops.

Rivers overflow in Karkala and Hebri

Heavy rain over the past two days has increased the flow in the Swarna, Sita and Kabbinahole rivers in Karkala and Hebri taluks.

Floodwaters entered agricultural lands in low-lying areas, including Kabbinahole, Batradi and Doddamane.

Strong winds and heavy rain also caused trees to fall on electricity poles, leading to power disruptions in several villages in Karkala and Hebri. Electricity department staff have taken up restoration work.

Dense fog in the Agumbe Ghat slowed vehicular movement, while rising river levels in low-lying areas along the riverbanks have raised concern among local residents.

Flooding in Eedu village

In Eedu village of Karkala, the overflowing Swarna River submerged a footbridge, disrupting the movement of local residents. The water level receded later in the afternoon after rainfall reduced.
