Former Karnataka High Court judge Indrakala B. S. passes away in Washington DC

Mangaluru: Retired Karnataka High Court judge Indrakala B. S. (73) passed away due to illness on May 21 in Washington DC, USA, family sources said.

She is survived by a son and a daughter.

Indrakala B. S. had served as Principal District and Sessions Judge in Mangaluru. She was later appointed as an additional judge of the Karnataka High Court in 2012, becoming the third woman to hold the position.

In 2013, she was made a permanent judge and continued in office until April 2014. After her tenure in the High Court, she served as the chairperson of the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.

During her judicial career, she had delivered a notable verdict in the 1994 Vamanjoor quadruple murder case in Mangaluru, in which accused Praveen Kumar was awarded the death penalty.

She was also known to be a devoted follower of Sri Kalikamba Vinayaka Temple in Mangaluru and used to visit the temple during her stay in the city.
