Panaji: A woman who was booked in a case of honey-trapping and robbing a Gujarati businessman has now become the prime accused in the mysterious death case of Udupi entrepreneur Sandeep Salian.
Police have been left shocked by the criminal activities of the woman, who allegedly lured wealthy businessmen to casinos and robbed them.
The murder accused, Akshatha M.K., alias Rupashree C., a native of Mangaluru, was arrested by Goa Police in Bengaluru on Friday night (July 3) with the assistance of Karnataka Police.
A case has been registered against the accused, Akshatha alias Rupashree C., in connection with the murder of Sandeep Salian (42), a water sports boat entrepreneur and resident of Malpe in Udupi. The investigation has revealed that the accused had allegedly conspired to lure wealthy businessmen to casinos and take them to hotels to rob them.
According to the police investigation, the accused followed a criminal modus operandi of targeting wealthy visitors at casinos, trapping them, taking them to hotels, rendering them unconscious, robbing them, and blackmailing them through honey-trap schemes.
Earlier, the same woman allegedly rendered Gujarati businessman Tomesh Yadav unconscious in a hotel and stole jewellery worth Rs 2.40 lakh. Another theft case has also been registered against the accused at the Panaji Police Station.
Sandeep Salian had earlier worked as a driver for a former Karnataka minister. Later, he left the job and started a water sports boat business in Malpe. Within a short period, he achieved considerable success in the business and became a prominent entrepreneur in Udupi's water sports sector.
