Thirthahalli: Continuous heavy rainfall over the past two days in the Sringeri and Thirthahalli regions has caused the Tunga river to flow in full spate.
The historic Sri Rama Mantapa in Thirthahalli is now just a few feet away from being submerged.
According to local belief, the submergence of the Sri Rama Mantapa indicates that the Tunga river is in flood. At present, only about three feet remain before the mantapa goes underwater. If heavy rain continues on Sunday as well, there is a possibility that the Sri Rama Mantapa will be submerged.
