Kasaragod: Election officials on Monday launched the home voting service in Kasaragod district, enabling eligible voters to cast their votes from their residences.
The facility has been provided for persons with disabilities and voters aged above 85 years, allowing them to vote without visiting polling booths.
Under the arrangement, a polling team comprising two polling officers, a micro observer, a videographer, a police officer and a booth-level officer will visit the homes of voters who have opted for the home voting service.
For the exercise, election authorities have deployed 30 teams each for Kanhangad and Trikaripur constituencies, 25 teams for Uduma, and 17 teams each for Kasaragod and Manjeshwar constituencies.
Kasaragod District Collector Arjun Pandian visited the Government College, Kasaragod, which is the distribution centre for polling materials for the Kasaragod and Manjeshwar constituencies, and Tanihul Islam Higher Secondary School for the Uduma constituency.
During the visit, the District Collector issued the necessary instructions to election officials regarding the conduct of the home voting process.
