Honnavar: In a major enforcement drive, Regional Transport Office (RTO) officials seized 17 lorries carrying oversized stone slabs in an overloaded condition on Sunday, May 31.

The vehicles, which were travelling from Panambur in Mangaluru towards Honnavar, were intercepted and inspected by RTO officials. During the inspection, authorities found that the lorries were transporting massive stone slabs in a hazardous and overloaded manner, posing a serious risk to road safety.

According to available information, the stone slabs were being transported for the construction of a private commercial port being developed at Kasarkod in Honnavar.

All 17 seized vehicles have been parked at the Honnavar Police Ground, and further action is being initiated by the authorities.
