New Delhi: The Indian Navy has issued fresh guidelines following incidents of firing reported on Indian commercial vessels near the Strait of Hormuz.
According to official sources, the advisory was issued to enhance the safety of Indian-flagged ships and vessels carrying Indian crew members operating in the region.
The Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the world's most strategically important maritime routes, with a significant portion of global oil shipments passing through it. The region has witnessed heightened tensions in recent months.
The Navy has reportedly advised shipping companies and vessel operators to follow enhanced security protocols while navigating through high-risk areas. Ships have been asked to maintain continuous communication with maritime authorities and immediately report any suspicious movement.
The guidelines also include measures such as strict monitoring of vessel movement, coordination with naval authorities, and adherence to international maritime safety norms.
Officials said the situation is being closely monitored, and necessary steps are being taken to ensure the safety of Indian maritime interests in the region.
