Jabalpur: A tragic cruise boat accident at the Bargi Dam in Jabalpur on Thursday (April 30) shocked the nation.
Following the incident, a photo showing a mother and child floating in water while embracing each other went viral on social media.
However, officials have clarified that the image is fake and created using Artificial Intelligence, and has no connection to the accident.
During the rescue operations, divers had informed the media that a mother had died while holding her child close when the boat capsized. This emotional account led many people to believe that the viral image was real.
However, the Jabalpur District Collector addressed the issue on X (formerly Twitter), stating that the image was either AI-generated or taken from another source and is not related to the Bargi cruise accident. This clarification helped remove confusion among the public.
In connection with the incident, three people, including the boat pilot, have been dismissed for negligence, and the boat club manager has been suspended. Police are preparing to register an FIR.
The district administration has urged the public not to share false information or misleading images, especially during such tragic incidents, as it adds to the distress of the victims' families.
