Puttur: Member of Parliament Capt. Brijesh Chowta has announced that an approval has been granted for development works worth Rs 2.91 crore to provide better infrastructure for passengers at the Kabaka - Puttur railway station.

Under this project, a massive shelter will be constructed on Platform No. 1 at a cost of Rs 2.91 crore. Currently, the station has a shelter covering only 531 sq. meters. Approval has now been received to build a spacious shelter spanning 3,392 sq. meters under the new plan. The MP stated that the process of identifying the necessary site for the shelter construction has been completed, and work will commence shortly.

Furthermore, a proposal has been submitted to install two lifts on Platform Nos. 2 and 3 for the existing foot overbridge to ensure smooth movement for passengers. This project is expected to cost approximately Rs 1.33 crore and is currently in the verification stage at the Railway Headquarters.

In November 2024, the MP had written a letter to the General Manager of South Western Railway requesting action regarding the expansion of the shelter.
