Bengaluru: Government, aided and unaided primary and high schools following the state syllabus in Karnataka will reopen for the next academic year 2026-27 on May 29.
The Commissioner of the School Education and Literacy Department has released the annual academic calendar, including the schedule for the academic term and holidays for the upcoming year.
According to the schedule, the first term will be held from May 29 to October 2, while the second term will run from October 22, 2026, to April 10, 2027.
The Dasara holidays will be observed from October 3 to October 21.
Out of the total 365 days in the academic year, 119 days have been marked as holidays, while 245 days have been classified as working days.
Of these 245 days, the department has directed schools to allocate:
- 26 days for examinations and assessment work (FA and SA)
- 24 days for conducting co-curricular activity competitions
- 10 days for evaluation and result analysis
- 4 days for local school holidays
- 181 days for the teaching-learning process
The department has also instructed schools to continue the usual activities related to the enrolment drive and school reopening celebrations.
Officials have directed that the student admission process must be completed by June 30.
Schools have also been instructed to conduct an enrolment awareness campaign to bring back children aged 6 to 18 years who have dropped out of school.
