Koratagere: The Kolala police have successfully cracked a case involving the torching of a car and two bikes parked in front of a house, which had created an atmosphere of fear in the village.
Investigations have revealed that an MBBS doctor was behind the act.
On the late night of Saturday, April 11, Dr. Nagabhushan set fire to a car and a bike parked in front of the house of Virupaksha, owner of KCN Bharat Gas Agency, in Kolala village of Koratagere taluk, before fleeing the spot.
The vehicles were gutted in the fire, leading to panic among the villagers. A complaint was subsequently filed at the Kolala police station. Following a manhunt, the police successfully arrested the accused, identified as Dr. H.R. Nagabhushan.
Old enmity is said to be the motive behind the doctor's decision to set the vehicles ablaze.
Dr. Nagabhushan, who also owns the Parvati Parameshwara Marriage Hall in Kolala, completed his MBBS and reportedly runs a clinic in Kunigal. He allegedly purchased petrol in Tumakuru and, wearing a mask to conceal his identity, poured the fuel over the car and bikes late at night before lighting them and escaping.
The police team, led by PSI Abhishek under the guidance of CPI Anil, conducted the investigation. Based on CCTV footage, they arrested Dr. Nagabhushan, produced him before a judge, and he has since been remanded to judicial custody.
