Kota: A pedestrian was killed on the spot after being struck by a car while crossing the road near Sastana junction.

The deceased has been identified as Ganesh Karkera, a resident of Sastana.

He was employed in the fishing industry. Late at night, he had crossed the Udupi-Kundapura road at Sastana junction and was standing at the edge of the divider, waiting to cross towards the western side. At that moment, a car approaching from the Kundapura side toward Udupi hit him, reportedly driving in a reckless manner. Due to the impact of the collision, Ganesh Karkera was dragged for a short distance by the car and died on the spot from severe bleeding.

A case has been registered at the Kota police station, and the police are conducting further investigation.
