The deceased has been identified as Eranna Agasibagilu. He was allegedly in a relationship with a local woman, Renuka Kalasapur, for the past two years. The relationship had come to the knowledge of their families, who had reportedly informed Eranna's family about it on one or two occasions. However, the two continued to meet.

On Wednesday, Eranna and Renuka were allegedly found together by her family members. The accused are alleged to have attacked Eranna on the head with an iron rod, a wooden stick and a wooden plank, killing him.

Renuka Kalasapur, her husband Anjaneya Kalasapur, her mother Hanumavva Bhovi and her brother Dharmaraj Bhovi have been accused of the killing. All four have been arrested.

Accused went to police station to file complaint

After the alleged killing, the four accused reportedly went to the police station to lodge a complaint against Eranna, claiming that they had quarrelled with him. Police reportedly came to know about the killing during this process and arrested them at the police station.

Police visited the spot and conducted an inspection. A case has been registered at the Lakshmeshwar police station in Gadag district.
