Kota: Lokayukta officials continued their inspection for the second consecutive day at the Brahmavar Tahsildar office on Tuesday following allegations of irregularities and corruption.
The inspection and investigation were carried out after obtaining a search warrant from the Lokayukta office in Bengaluru based on complaints received from the public. The verification process continued till late Tuesday night.
During the inspection, officials reportedly found several pending files as well as a large number of files suspected to have been cleared in violation of rules.
Officials also received information alleging that files were being processed through middlemen and that certain files had been disposed of illegally.
Lokayukta officials stated that they found delays in disposal of files without valid reasons.
During the inspection, some members of the public also approached the officials and raised their grievances, following which further inquiries were conducted.
Officials said a report regarding all files found to be irregular or illegal has been prepared and will be submitted to the Lokayukta authorities for further action.
The inspection was led by Udupi Lokayukta DySP Halamurthy Rao. Lokayukta Police Inspectors Manjunath, Rajendra Nayak and Mangaluru Lokayukta Inspector Bharati, along with staff from the Udupi and Mangaluru Lokayukta offices, were part of the operation.
