Mangaluru: Traffic changes have been introduced in the city due to the construction of a new bridge over a stormwater drain near TMA Pai Hall on M.G. Road, one of the busiest roads in Mangaluru.

According to officials, the new traffic arrangement will be in place from March 30 to May 30. During this period, only one-way traffic will be allowed on the stretch. Vehicles will be permitted to move from PVS towards Lalbagh. Traffic in the opposite direction-from Lalbagh to PVS-has been diverted as per police approval.

Alternative routes

Private service buses: From Kottara Junction via KPT Junction - Battagudda Junction - Bijai Junction - Pio Mall Road - Jail Road - PVS Junction.

Private city buses: From Kottara Junction via Ladyhill Junction - Lalbagh - KSRTC - Bijai Junction - Pio Mall Road - Jail Road - PVS Junction.

Goods vehicles: From Kottara Junction via Ladyhill Junction - Mannagudda Junction - Durga Mahal - New Chitra Junction - Balaji Junction.

Private luxury buses: From Kottara Junction via KPT Junction - Nanthoor Junction - Shivbagh Junction.

KSRTC ordinary and express buses: From KSRTC bus stand via Bijai Church Road - Pio Mall - Tandur Bar - turn left at Karangalpady Junction.

Volvo and Rajahamsa buses: From KSRTC bus stand via Bijai Junction - Battagudda - KPT.

Cars and two-wheelers: Vehicles travelling from Lalbagh towards PVS can take diversion at Ballalbagh Junction, turning right towards Durga Mahal or via TMA Pai Hall road - Pattumudi Cross Road - G.G. Road - Vishal Nursing Home.

No parking zones

Parking is strictly prohibited on both sides of the road from Bijai Junction to PVS Junction via Jail Road, and from Tandur Hotel to Karangalpady Junction. Parking is also not allowed on stretches between PVS Junction and Lalbagh Junction, Lalbagh to Mannagudda, and from Kodialguthu Cross to Kodialguthu Junction.

Authorities have urged commuters to follow the new routes and traffic rules to avoid congestion during the construction period.
