Bengaluru: Authorities at Parappana Agrahara Central Prison are facing increasing difficulty in managing Pallavi, the wife of former DGP Om Prakash, who is currently in judicial custody in connection with his murder case reported two years ago.
According to officials, the incident dates back to April 20, 2025, when retired DGP Om Prakash (68), a resident of HSR Layout, was allegedly killed by his wife Pallavi. She is accused of attacking him with chilli powder and stabbing him to death. Preliminary investigations had pointed to property disputes, domestic conflict, and suspected mental instability as possible motives behind the crime.
Sources within the prison indicate that Pallavi is exhibiting signs of mental distress, making it challenging for staff to manage her behaviour. She is reportedly prone to shouting at officers and staff without apparent reason and displaying erratic conduct. This has raised concerns about her psychological condition, with prison personnel struggling to maintain order.
The situation has also affected other inmates. Women lodged in the same barrack have reportedly expressed fear and requested authorities to shift them to a different section for their safety.
In view of her condition, Pallavi is being taken to National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences every 15 days for medical evaluation. Doctors are providing counselling and necessary treatment, while closely monitoring her mental health. However, officials noted that she has, on some occasions, refused to visit the hospital, further complicating efforts to manage her condition.
Family members have reportedly not visited her in recent times. Her son and daughter are said to have stayed away, and limited family contact may be contributing to her growing sense of isolation, officials added.
