Padubidri: Following comprehensive renovation, the Brahmakalashotsava festivities have commenced at the Padubidri Sri Mahalingeshwara Mahaganapathi Temple.

On Thursday evening, April 23, the temple's chief priest (Tantri), Vedamurthy Kamblakatta Radhakrishna Upadhyaya, and his team were formally welcomed upon their arrival at the shrine.

After offering prayers at the Balalaya in the presence of priests Y. Gururaja Bhat and H. Padmanabha Bhat, Vedamurthy Radhakrishna Upadhyaya performed the Torana Muhurtha and Ugrana Muhurtha (sanctifying the storehouse) rituals.

The event was attended by Dr. Prakash Shetty (President of the Renovation and Brahmakalashotsava Committee), Kornaya Padmanabha Rao (Honorary President), hereditary trustees Ratnakararaj Arasu Kinyakka Ballal, Padubidri Petemane Bhavanishankar Hegde, Kornaya Sripathi Rao, Vastu expert Kudupu Krishnaraj Tantri, Executive Officer K. Rajagopala Upadhyaya, Vanadurga Trust General Secretary Y. N. Ramachandra Rao, and other local leaders and dignitaries.

Second day schedule

On Friday, the second day of the Brahmakalashotsava, Kaniyooru Sri Vidyavallabhatheertha Swamiji will perform the Samsthana Pooja. The religious rituals, starting from 6:30 AM, include Punyaha, Devanaandi, Gavyayaga, Kankana Bandha, Arani Mathana, and Bhadradipa Pratishtha. Additionally, the Chatuveda and Bhagavata Parayana will begin, followed by Ashtottara Narikela Ganapathi Yaga and Maha Rudrayaga. Maha Annasantarpane (mass feeding) is scheduled for 12:30 PM. Evening rituals will feature Vaastu Rakshoghna Bali and Ankuraadhivaasa Yaga, along with Durgaradhane.

Cultural programs

The cultural line-up includes classical music performances by Saanvi Rao (11 AM) and Vidya Sudarshan (12 PM). Evening events feature a dance recital by Harshini Salyan (4 PM), Carnatic classical music by Rishi Rao Pejavara and Khushi Rao Pejavara (5 PM), and a 'Gana Akhyana' titled Girija Kalyana by Sripathi Upadhyaya and Ganapathi Bhat (6 PM). At 8 PM, a commemorative issue on the temple's history will be released, followed by a Tulu drama "Piravudu Ori Ulle" performed by the alumni of Ganapathi High School at 8:30 PM.
