Udupi: Karkala Town Police in Udupi district have detained a rowdy-sheeter, Ganesh Poojary (48), under the Goonda Act.
Ganesh Poojary, son of Sadhu Poojary, is a resident of Sadguna Nivasa in Kaudoor village of Karkala taluk.
The detention order was issued on April 4, 2026, by the District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner of Udupi district, based on a report from the Superintendent of Police.
According to police records, a total of 11 cases have been registered against him at Karkala Town Police Station. These include four cases of attempt to murder, one case of robbery, three cases of assault, one case of unlawful assembly, one case related to gambling, and one other case.
Among these, one case has resulted in conviction, seven cases have ended in acquittal, one case is under trial, and two cases are under investigation.
Authorities have ordered that the accused be lodged in Kalaburagi Central Prison.
