Bengaluru: Jnanabharathi Police have arrested two persons accused of snatching a woman's mangalsutra chain in Bengaluru.
The arrested accused have been identified as Pramod Basappa Chalavadi (22) and Manohar Gurunath (22), residents of Chandra Layout.
Police said they have recovered a gold mangalsutra chain weighing 4.82 grams, valued at around Rs 5 lakh, along with a two-wheeler used in the crime.
According to police, the incident took place on May 18 when a woman from Balaji Layout in Mallathahalli was walking along 5th Cross in the locality. Two men allegedly approached her on a motorcycle from behind.
Police said Pramod, who was riding pillion, allegedly snatched the woman's mangalsutra chain before the duo fled from the spot on the bike.
Based on the complaint filed by the victim, Jnanabharathi Police launched an investigation and arrested the accused.
Police said the accused are natives of Gadag district and were working as delivery personnel in Bengaluru. They allegedly turned to crime in an attempt to earn more money.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
