Udupi: A court in Udupi has sentenced a 30-year-old man to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 in connection with the murder of a woman and her daughter in May 2022 at Atradoi Madaga.
The convict has been identified as Harish R., also known as Ganesh, a resident of Kurubara Beedi in Jannapura of Bhadravati taluk.
According to the case details, the accused murdered his partner Cheluvi and her daughter Priya by strangling them using a dupatta.
Following the incident, the Hiriyadka police registered a case and initiated an investigation. The then Brahmavara Circle Inspector Ananthapadmanabha led the probe, arrested the accused, and filed a chargesheet before the court.
The Second Additional District and Sessions Court in Udupi has now pronounced the verdict, awarding life imprisonment to the accused.
