Thirthahalli: Veteran Yakshagana artiste Kokkodti Krishnamurthy Acharya passed away at the age of 82 following an illness, according to reports.
A renowned Yakshagana performer, Acharya dedicated nearly 50 years of his life to the traditional art form and earned widespread recognition for his contributions.
Over the course of his illustrious career, he performed with several of Karnataka's most prominent Yakshagana troupes, including Shri Kshetra Mandarthi, Maranakatte, Shivarajapura Mela, Shri Kshetra Somwarasante Mela, Goligaradi, Madamakki, Amruteshwari, Neelavara, Megaravalli, Seethur, Hosalli, and many others, captivating audiences with his performances.
In recognition of his outstanding contribution to Yakshagana, he received several honours, including the Karnataka Yakshagana Bayalata Academy Award and the Yakshagana Kalaranga Award from Udupi, along with numerous other accolades.
