Hyderabad: A viral video from an Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings has triggered controversy after a fan's unusual act in the stands drew attention online.
The incident reportedly took place on April 18 during the second innings, when Chennai was chasing a target of 194 runs. Batter Shivam Dube was at the crease and seen as a key hope for his team. Bowler Saqib Hussain was delivering the over.
During the 17th over, a Hyderabad supporter seated in the stands was seen rotating a lemon and making gestures towards the batter, which some viewers interpreted as a ritualistic act. Moments later, Dube was bowled by a yorker delivery, and the fan was seen celebrating.
The video quickly went viral on social media, leading to speculation that the act was linked to the dismissal. Some reports also claimed that Chennai Super Kings had filed a complaint with the Board of Control for Cricket in India over the incident.
However, there has been no official confirmation regarding any such complaint.
