Chikkamagaluru: A woman was seriously injured after a wild boar attacked her while she was working in a plantation in Chikkamagaluru.
Incidents of wild animal attacks have been increasing in the Malnad region, with cases involving elephants and bison reported earlier.
Now, fear of wild boar attacks is also rising.
Details of the incident:
The injured woman has been identified as Lakshmi (41), a resident of Alur village near Gonibeedu in Mudigere taluk. She was working in her plantation when a wild boar, which was hiding in nearby bushes, suddenly attacked her.
Lakshmi suffered serious injuries in the unexpected attack. Local residents rushed her to the government hospital in Mudigere, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
Forest department and police officials visited the spot and conducted an inspection after receiving information about the incident.
Frequent wild animal attacks in the Malnad region have increased concern among local farmers.
