Bengaluru: A 19-year-old bike rider died after being hit by a car allegedly driven under the influence of alcohol in Jeevan Bheemanagar traffic police limits.
The deceased has been identified as Prateek (19). The car driver, Arpit (19), has been taken into custody.
According to police, the incident occurred on Friday around 11 pm when Prateek was riding his Bullet bike on 10th Main Road in Marutinagar, Malleshpalya.
An Innova car, which was reportedly being driven at high speed and in a negligent manner, hit the bike from behind.
Due to the impact, Prateek suffered severe injuries and died on the spot.
Police from Jeevan Bheemanagar Traffic Police Station reached the spot and detained the driver. Medical examination confirmed that he was driving under the influence of alcohol.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is under way.
