- Russian strikes killed more than 30 people over the last few days in and around the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, and Ukraine launched several of its biggest drone attacks inside Russian territory since the invasion began in 2022
- In the first six months of 2026, UN monitors confirmed 1,396 Ukrainian civilians killed and 7,978 injured
- July marked the deadliest month for Ukrainian civilians since April 2022, according to the UN's humanitarian aid office (OCHA)
- The UN estimates 10.8 million Ukrainians need humanitarian assistance
