Top gainers and losers: The Indian benchmark indices, SENSEX and NIFTY50, closed in negative territory on Wednesday, June 3, amid a massive sell-off in IT stocks, rising crude oil prices and continuous FII outflow.
On Tuesday, the foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth ₹8,362.92 crore, while the domestic institutional investors (DIIs) purchased equities worth ₹9,589.32 crore on a net basis, according to exchange data.
The SENSEX tanked by as much as 1.55% to touch an intraday low of 73,492.60, while the NIFTY50 touched the session's low of 23,151.50.
On June 3, the S&P BSE SENSEX closed 303.67 points, or 0.41% lower at 74,346.17. Meanwhile, NSE's NIFTY50 ended at 23,405.60, reflecting a 77.95-point, or 0.33% decline.
NIFTY50 top gainers and losers
Tata Consultancy Services dragged the NIFTY50 index, closing 8.25% lower, amid profit-taking in IT stocks after rallying in the past few days.
It was followed by Tech Mahindra (-6.45%), HCL Technologies (-5.31%), Infosys (-3.96%) and Wipro (-2.83%), which were also among the top losers on Wednesday.
On the other hand, the top gainers included Apollo Hospitals (2.59%), Tata Motors PV (2%), InterGlobe Aviation (1.88%), Max Healthcare Institute (1.72%) and State Bank of India (1.55%).
NIFTY Midcap 100 top gainers and losers
NSE's NIFTY Midcap 100 gauge slumped 0.42% or 254.80 points to close at 60,687.20 on June 3.
The index was weighed down by selling in the shares of Persistent Systems (-7.14%), Coforge (-6.59%), KPIT Technologies (-4.62%), MphasiS (-4.46%) and Tata Elxsi (-4.18%), which were among the top laggards.
On the flip side, Vodafone Idea (5.30%), GE Vernova T&D India (3.95%), NHPC (3.39%), Mankind Pharma (3.31%), and Federal Bank (3.19%) were among the top winners.
Shares of NHPC advanced as the company's offer for sale (OFS) opened for retail investors today.
NIFTY Smallcap 100 top gainers and losers
The NIFTY Smallcap 100 index slipped by 0.11% or 20.25 points to end at 18,032.05.
Its top losers included Physicswallah (-5.46%), JM Financial (-4.77%), Sagility (-3.63%), CreditAccess Grameen (-3.53%) and Triveni Turbine (-2.65%).
On the contrary, IFCI (12.23%), Ola Electric Mobility (9.99%), Ather Energy (6.28%), Wockhardt (5.99%) and Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals (4.75%) were among the top gainers.
