Shares of HCL Technologies closed 0.6% higher on Wednesday after the company announced a major development about its partnership with Volkswagen Group.

HCLTech, a leading global technology company, today announced a multi-year strategic partnership with e.solutions, a Germany-based automotive software specialist and part of Volkswagen Group, for the development of next-generation software-defined infotainment and connectivity solutions.

The engagement will focus on scaling AI-enabled future infotainment and connectivity platforms built on Android Automotive, in line with the growing demand for connected, digital in-vehicle experiences. HCLTech will support the development, integration and validation of production-grade human-machine interface (HMI) software for multiple vehicle programs, enabling consistent deployment across varied hardware platforms and global markets.

Pankaj Tagra, Chief Growth Officer and Global Head, Mobility at HCLTech, said,"By combining AI-driven engineering and a deep understanding of the automotive sector, we will empower e.solutions to accelerate and develop world-class infotainment platforms. The partnership underscores our long-term commitment to the automotive ecosystem and the ability to support complex engineering programs at scale across international markets"

The company is buzzing lately with its aggressive expansion in the AI-related field after acquiring stakes in Sarvam AI earlier this week. The company invested ₹1,427.25 crore in Axonwise (Sarvam AI), India's full-stack sovereign AI company. The investment is aimed at the acquisition of 41,421 equity shares, representing 10.46% stake in Sarvam AI. Through this investment, the company will fund Sarvam's continued research and development for training its next-generation frontier models for agentic AI, coding, and cybersecurity use cases, as well as access to compute at scale to expand its deployment across key industry verticals.

The company brings its deep enterprise transformation expertise and global client relationships to accelerate Sarvam's vision of building a powerful, end-to-end sovereign AI ecosystem for India and beyond.
