- In Assam, the ruling BJP is in the lead. Early trends show BJP ahead on 27 seats, while Congress is leading on 7.

-In Puducherry, the NDA is leading on 13 seats, with Congress candidates ahead on 4.

-In Tamil Nadu, the ruling DMK is ahead on 38 seats, while AIADMK and its allies are leading on 13.

- In Kerala, the LDF is leading on 61 seats, while the UDF is ahead on 64.

Vijay is ahead in both Perambur and Trichy East seats.

* The contest in West Bengal remains neck to neck, though early trends are now indicating a possible shift.

* Mamata Banerjee is trailing by 1558 votes in Bhabanipur seat.

Kolkata Police has issued a notification: "In view of the counting process of the General Election to the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, which is expected to continue throughout the day to complete the entire process of counting, and in order to maintain public order, peace, and tranquility within the jurisdiction of Kolkata Police, it is hereby notified that no victory procession, rally, or public celebration in connection with election results shall be carried out on 4th May, 2026 This restriction shall apply uniformly to all political parties or groups without exception."

"Victory processions, if any, may be conducted on 5th May, 2026 or thereafter, only after obtaining prior permission from the Officer-in-Charge of the concerned Police Station. All such permitted processions shall strictly adhere to the prevailing rules and guidelines and the conditions imposed in the permission," Kolkata Police added.

"I request all counting agents and candidates not to leave the counting area. This is BJP's plan. Counting has been stopped after two or three rounds in about 100 locations. Seven machines were found in Kalyani where there was no match. It's a total forceful use of central forces to oppress the Trinamool Congress everywhere, breaking offices, and forcibly occupying them.
