The incident took place on Saturday night when the four accused were reportedly seen speeding through the area while performing stunt-like driving and racing. According to police, the car had a modified silencer that produced loud noise, causing disturbance to the public.
Officials said a police team attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver ignored the instructions and tried to flee from the spot at high speed.
Police personnel chased the car and eventually managed to catch the driver, while the three other occupants escaped from the scene.
During the chase, a police constable suffered a minor injury to his left hand after the driver allegedly attempted to escape recklessly.
According to officials, the student driving the car was found to be operating the vehicle without a valid driving licence.
Police have registered a case against the driver and the three passengers on charges including dangerous driving, creating public nuisance, causing injury to a government official during duty and illegal vehicle modification.
Authorities also booked the owner of the vehicle under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act for allowing an unauthorised person to drive the car.
The accused driver has been taken into custody, while efforts are underway to trace the remaining occupants who fled the spot.
