Teen sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi delivered a record-breaking performance as Rajasthan Royals stormed into Qualifier 2 of IPL 2026 with a commanding 47-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in a high-octane Eliminator on Wednesday.
Batting first after being sent in, Rajasthan Royals piled up a massive 243/8, thanks largely to Sooryavanshi's breathtaking 97 off just 29 deliveries. The young opener unleashed a brutal assault on the SRH bowling attack, smashing 12 sixes and five boundaries in one of the most explosive playoff knocks in IPL history.
Sooryavanshi attacked from the very beginning, taking on Pat Cummins and the Hyderabad pacers with fearless strokeplay. He raced to a 15-ball half-century and looked destined for a memorable hundred before falling just three runs short while attempting another big hit.
He was well supported by Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored 29 off 29 balls, as the pair added a blistering 125-run opening partnership in less than eight overs. Dhruv Jurel further accelerated the innings with a rapid 50 off 21 balls, while skipper Riyan Parag chipped in with a quick 26 from 12 deliveries.
Although SRH managed a few breakthroughs, including Praful Hinge's three-wicket haul, Rajasthan maintained relentless momentum throughout the innings and finished with a daunting total at a run rate above 12 per over.
Chasing 244, Sunrisers Hyderabad got off to a shaky start as Jofra Archer struck in the opening over, dismissing Abhishek Sharma for a duck. Archer then removed Ishan Kishan, who had threatened briefly with a fiery 33 off 11 balls.
Kishan received a lifeline after Ravindra Jadeja dropped a difficult catch at deep square leg, but Archer quickly made amends by dismantling the top order. Travis Head scored 17 off 8 balls before SRH slumped to 57/4 inside five overs.
Nitish Kumar Reddy (38 off 20) and Salil Arora (35 off 21) tried to revive the chase with a 56-run partnership, but Rajasthan regained complete control when Ravindra Jadeja dismissed both set batters in the middle overs.
Nandre Burger and Sushant Mishra wrapped up the lower order as wickets continued to tumble at regular intervals. SRH were eventually bowled out for 196 in 19.2 overs, confirming their elimination from the tournament.
Archer (3/58), Jadeja (2/21), and Burger (2/26) starred with the ball to complement Rajasthan's dominant batting display.
With this emphatic victory, Rajasthan Royals advance to Qualifier 2 of IPL 2026, while Sunrisers Hyderabad bow out after a thrilling yet one-sided knockout clash.
