A total of 958 candidates have been recommended for appointment to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and various Central Services in Group A and Group B, according to the official notice.

At the top of the merit list is Anuj Agnihotri, who secured Rank 1 in the examination.

From Rawatbhata to the UPSC Top Rank

Hailing from Rawatbhata, a small town in Rajasthan near Kota, Anuj Agnihotri completed his primary schooling locally before moving to Jodhpur for higher education. He pursued a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at AIIMS Jodhpur and completed his compulsory internship in 2023. Shortly after, he began preparing for the Civil Services Examination, as shared in a mock interview on the official YouTube channel of Vajiram and Ravi.

Agnihotri reflected that the preparation process for the civil services presented challenges very different from his medical studies.

Motivation Behind Choosing Civil Services

When asked about his choice, Agnihotri said he was drawn to civil services because of the nature of the work. He sought a career that was not monotonous, offering diverse responsibilities and exposure to multiple sectors of governance.

Outside academics, he enjoys cricket and has an interest in stand-up comedy, demonstrating a balanced personality alongside his rigorous preparation.

UPSC CSE 2025 Results

According to the official notice issued by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), 958 candidates have been recommended for appointment this year. The category-wise distribution is as follows:

General category: 317

Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): 104

Other Backward Classes (OBC): 306

Scheduled Castes (SC): 158

Scheduled Tribes (ST): 73

The results also include candidates under the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) categories: 10 under PwBD-1, 14 under PwBD-2, nine under PwBD-3, and nine under PwBD-5. The commission clarified that all claims under EWS, OBC, SC, ST, and PwBD categories remain subject to verification by the concerned authorities.

A Transition from Medicine to Administration

For Anuj Agnihotri, the results mark the successful completion of a remarkable transition from medical training to civil services. After finishing his MBBS and internship, he began dedicated preparation for the UPSC examination in 2023, culminating in securing the top rank in one of India's most competitive exams.

Following him in the toppers list are Rajeshwari Suve M and Akansh Dhull, who secured AIR 2 and AIR 3 respectively.
