What is the truth?
We ran a reverse image search using the keyframes of the viral video and we found the same video is posted in PriyankaTechTelugu dated 5 August 2025.
The description states that 'a video of DMK's "Oraniyil Tamil Nadu" scheme has gone viral on social media, creating controversy. The video shows booth-level members receiving gifts such as mobile phones, gold watches, umbrellas, pouches, and handbags. In Chennai's Egmore constituency, it is reported that gifts worth nearly ₹12,000 are being distributed. According to reports, this is part of a membership drive and the items are being given to administrators, not to volunteers.'
The same news video was also reported by The Federal and captioned 'Booth agents in #Chennai's #Kolathur who enrolled most members under Tamil Nadu Scheme received Samsung phones, watches, umbrellas, and ₹5,000 in cash as gifts from CM'.
