Rox Motors is a Shanghai-based group, founded in 2023, which currently has a limited global portfolio, with the Adamas being its flagship offering. The SUV measures over 5 metres in length and sits on a 3 metre wheelbase, clearly placing it in the full-size SUV category. It can be had in two seating configurations- a 7-seater layout and a more premium 6-seater setup with captain seats. With its sheer size and positioning, the Adamas aims to cater to buyers looking for a large, feature-packed SUV with strong road presence.

While there have been no official announcements by Rox Motor regarding its arrival in India, we speculate that by filing a patent and trademark for its Adamas SUV in India, Rox Motor might be evaluating the Indian market, since it has consistently been growing, and new brands are always welcome.

Rox Motor Adamas: Exterior

The Adamas SUV has a boxy silhouette with an upright stance, along with a flat roofline and squared-off proportions, giving it a rugged and off-road-ready look. Its design language leans towards traditional SUVs, with styling cues that may remind you of the Land Rover Defender. Up front there is a boxy front fascia with a protruding body-coloured grille and slim LED headlamps.

Towards the side, it rides on large 21-inch dual-tone alloy wheels with a simple design for the profile and thick cladding on the side skirts. You also get to see blacked-out A-, B- and C-pillars for a floating roof effect.

Moving on to the rear, what further adds to its utilitarian character is a full-size spare wheel mounted on the tailgate along with the slim vertically mounted LED taillamps. The SUV's imposing dimensions and high ground clearance reinforce its strong visual presence both on and off the road.

On the inside, the Adamas focus is on comfort and flexibility. Buyers can choose between a conventional 7-seat layout or a more luxurious 6-seat configuration with captain seats in the second row. The dashboard sports a large touchscreen infotainment screen in the centre, and there is also a digital instrument cluster for the driver. Globally, it gets multiple dual-tone interior themes and a premium dual-spoke steering wheel.

But to add a simplistic and futuristic look, there are hardly any physical buttons to be spotted in the dashboard. Premium touches like microfiber suede headliners and powered seat adjustments further enhance the overall cabin experience. The cabin also offers practical versatility, with a boot space of 346 litres with all rows up, expandable to 2175 litres with the second and third rows folded.

Rox Motor Adamas: Features And Safety

In terms of features, the Rox Adamas comes loaded with a long list of equipment aimed at enhancing both comfort and convenience. It gets electric adjustment for all rows with the front seats also featuring heating, ventilation, and massage function, soft-closing doors, 14-speaker surround sound system, inbuilt refrigerator, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, triple-zone climate control, a 15.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and 256-colour ambient lighting.

Safety-wise, the Adamas is globally offered with Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, up to 10 airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX child seat mounts, front and rear parking sensors, hill hold assist and electronic stability control.

Rox Motor Adamas: Powertrain And Off-Road Capabilities

Powering the Rox Adamas is a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with a dual-motor electric drivetrain, in a plug-in hybrid setup. Here, the petrol engine functions purely as a range extender, while the electric motors handle propulsion duties. There is a 44.5 kWh battery pack, which delivers an EV- only range of up to 235 km (WLTP), while the claimed combined range stands at 1226 km.

Being a plug-in hybrid, it also has 80kW DC fast charging capabilities which can top it up from 0 to 100 per cent in just 45 minutes. The combined output of this setup stands at an impressive 475 PS and 740 Nm, delivered through an all-wheel-drive system. Here are its detailed specifications:

If you're someone who enjoys off-roading, the SUV has many tricks up its sleeve that can make off-road driving a breeze. It comes equipped with adjustable air suspension, which can increase the height by up to 80mm. Other highlights include a water wading depth of 770 mm, an approach angle of 27.5 degrees, a departure angle of 27.9 degrees, and it can easily tackle up to 45 degrees of steep inclines.

Is The Rox Motor Adamas Coming To India?

Rox Motor has not made any official announcements as of now regarding the Adamas' launch in the Indian market. A patent and trademark filing does not always mean that a brand might be launching that particular product; sometimes, it is done to secure intellectual property rights.

That being said, given its global pricing, expect the Adamas to be priced between Rs 90 lakh to Rs 1.2 crore (ex-showroom) if it makes its way to India, which could make it a rival to luxury SUVs like the Land Rover Defender, Mercedes-Benz GLS and Audi Q7.
