Vietnamese brand VinFast is steadily expanding its India play. After confirming plans for locally assembled electric cars like the VF6 and VF7, the company is now gearing up to enter the two-wheeler space as well.
And interestingly, it's not just clean-sheet, India-focused products; VinFast will first bring in some of its existing scooters from Vietnam.
A few months ago, we shared our take on which VinFast scooters would make the most sense for Indian buyers. Now, the brand has officially confirmed that it will introduce the Evo, Feliz II and Viper here.
CKD Route First, Local Manufacturing Later
VinFast has confirmed that its initial batch of electric scooters will arrive in India as CKD (completely knocked down) units. These will be assembled at the company's upcoming facility in Tamil Nadu.
The brand has already signed an MoU with the Tamil Nadu government, securing around 200 hectares at the SIPCOT Industrial Park in Thoothukudi. This signals a long-term commitment, with localisation expected to follow once the brand establishes itself in the market.

Three Scooters Locked In
VinFast's first wave will include three models: Evo, Feliz II and Viper. All three scooters use LFP (Lithium Ferrous Phosphate) battery packs paired with hub-mounted motors, a setup that's common for urban-focused electric two-wheelers.
The Evo stands out as the most conventional offering for India. It rides on 12-inch wheels, gets dual 2.4kWh batteries, and produces 2.25kW of peak power. With a claimed top speed of 70kmph, a manageable 770mm seat height and a light kerb weight of 110kg, it sits in a similar space as popular choices like the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak and Ather Rizta.
On the other hand, the Feliz II and Viper take a slightly different approach. Both feature larger 14-inch wheels and an underbone-style design, which is more common in Southeast Asian markets than in India. The Feliz II packs a 3kWh battery with a 2.8kW motor, while the Viper ups the ante with a 4.8kWh battery and a 3kW motor.

Tailored For India, Battery Swapping On Cards
VinFast has also stated that all its products will be adapted to suit local usage patterns and riding conditions. Interestingly, the company is planning to introduce battery-swapping variants as well, which could be a key differentiator if executed well.

ZigSays
From what we see, the Evo still looks like the strongest contender for India. Its 12-inch wheel setup, accessible ergonomics and practical 35-litre underseat storage make it far more relatable for everyday buyers here. While the Feliz II and Viper might appeal to niche users, their underbone design and limited storage could be a tougher sell in a market that values practicality above all else.
