സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് അടുത്ത അഞ്ച് ദിവസവും വ്യാപക മഴയ്ക്ക് സാധ്യതയെന്ന് കേന്ദ്ര കാലാവസ്ഥ വകുപ്പ്. തിങ്കളാഴ്ച (ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 3) പത്തനംതിട്ട, ആലപ്പുഴ, കോട്ടയം, ഇടുക്കി, എറണാകുളം, മലപ്പുറം, കോഴിക്കോട്, വയനാട്, കണ്ണൂർ, കാസർഗോഡ് ജില്ലകളില്‍ ഓറഞ്ച് അലർട്ട് പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു. തിരുവനന്തപുരം, കൊല്ലം, തൃശൂർ, പാലക്കാട് ജില്ലകളില്‍ മഞ്ഞ അലർട്ടും നിലവിലുണ്ട്.

ഓറഞ്ച് അലർട്ട് പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ച ജില്ലകളില്‍ ഒറ്റപ്പെട്ടയിടങ്ങളില്‍ അതിശക്തമായ മഴയ്ക്കാണ് സാധ്യത. 24 മണിക്കൂറില്‍ 115.6 മില്ലിമീറ്റർ മുതല്‍ 204.4 മില്ലിമീറ്റർ വരെ മഴ ലഭിക്കാനിടയുണ്ടെന്നാണ് കേന്ദ്ര കാലാവസ്ഥ വകുപ്പിന്റെ മുന്നറിയിപ്പ്. ഇടിമിന്നലോടു കൂടിയ മഴയും ശക്തമായ കാറ്റും അനുഭവപ്പെടാൻ സാധ്യതയുണ്ട്.

ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 4, 6, 7 തീയതികളില്‍ പത്തനംതിട്ട, ആലപ്പുഴ, കോട്ടയം, ഇടുക്കി, എറണാകുളം, മലപ്പുറം, കോഴിക്കോട്, വയനാട്, കണ്ണൂർ, കാസർഗോഡ് ജില്ലകളില്‍ മഞ്ഞ അലർട്ട് പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഈ ജില്ലകളില്‍ ഒറ്റപ്പെട്ട ശക്തമായ മഴയ്ക്കാണ് സാധ്യത. 24 മണിക്കൂറില്‍ 64.5 മില്ലിമീറ്റർ മുതല്‍ 115.5 മില്ലിമീറ്റർ വരെ മഴ ലഭിക്കുന്ന സാഹചര്യത്തെയാണ് ശക്തമായ മഴയായി കേന്ദ്ര കാലാവസ്ഥ വകുപ്പ് വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്.

മഴ ശക്തമാകാൻ സാധ്യതയുള്ളതിനാല്‍ മലയോര മേഖലകളിലും വെള്ളക്കെട്ട് സാധ്യതയുള്ള പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലുമുള്ളവർ ജാഗ്രത പാലിക്കണമെന്നും ഇടിമിന്നല്‍ സമയത്ത് സുരക്ഷാ നിർദേശങ്ങള്‍ കർശനമായി പാലിക്കണമെന്നും അധികൃതർ നിർദേശിച്ചു.
